A Give - Away. . .

There's a 1st time for everything, right?  How about a
              Give-Away to celebrate our LOA!
It's not exactly a "Free" Give-Away though!  You have to "Play" to win.
                     Here's how it's going to work. . .

We need help to bring this precious child home - from an orphanage to a forever family.  Pretty simple really - just costly.

If you would like a chance to win this

or this - the choice will be yours

Then you have several choices on how you can enter the

Give-Away

1) Purchase one of these beautiful handmade pottery necklaces for $24. Half of the cost of each necklace goes straight towards our required orphanage donation of approximately $6,000.
2 entries in Give-Away for each necklace purchased

              2) Purchase a bar of handmade goat milk soap for $6.  There are 10 scents to choose from: purity (unscented and great for sensivitve skin), ocean, nautical, lavender, luv spell, pink sugary, black rasberry, oatmeal, milk, and honey, honeysuckle, and clean cotton.  These bars are large, long-lasting, smell wonderful, and are fantastic for your skin.  We receive $3 for each bar and you get 1 entry in the Give - Away for each bar purchased.

3) Purchase this necklace from
Our family may not be able to change the world, but we can change the world for 1 - a little boy who has lived his whole life in an orphanage - where the forgotten are! Our family receives $13 for each necklace purchased, and you get 2 entries in the Give-Away.

4)Leave a comment saying you would simply like to donate towards our adoption of Dawson.  We'll let you know how you can make a tax-deductible donation. 2 entries in the Give -Away

5) Share about our Give - Away on your blog or on your facebook page. 1 entry in the Give- Away for each place you post.

That's 5 ways you can choose to enter our Give- Away.  These soaps or necklaces make great gifts, and there are lots of gift-giving occasions this time of year - Easter baskets, Mother's Day, graduation gifts, end -of-the-year teacher gifts, birthdays, etc.

Please, please consider helping us raise the funds to help bring Dawson home and joining our Give-Away!  Just leave a comment telling me how you would like to help us, and then your name will be entered in the drawing for either 3 bars of soap or a one of the pottery necklaces - you choose the scent or the design.  "Give -Away" deadline: March 31.  Drawing will be on April Fool's Day!   Thanks so much for coming along side us to make a difference in the life of one whom the world considers "the least of these" - yet we know our God created this child, and every child, to be cherished and loved by a family.

A Sweet Surprise

These adorable pictures of Dawson were in my inbox on Monday morning - a complete surprise! A little update came with the pics - little Dawson can put on his socks by himself!  26 months old. No hands. AMAZING! And he holds his books with his toes.  Now if only our LOA would come - sigh!  These pictures just make us long for him all the more - oh to kiss those cute cheeks!

Time for a Dawson Update

This is our most recent picture of Dawson.  This update was sent to his "Open Arms" sponsor at the end of the year.  Thankfully, his family to-be received a copy too!

I feel as though I have neglected sweet little Dawson!  He is always on my mind and forever in my heart - it's just that lately the 8 babes who are currently under my roof have kept me quite busy!

Dawson is waiting in the Guangdong province at Zhanjiang Social Welfare Institute.
Thankfully, he is receiving really good care thanks to a program called "Zhanjiang Kids Organization" or ZKO.  This organization was started by a group of American adoptive moms of children from this SWI - children who came home severly delayed.  Back in 2004-2005, these dedicated moms began to seek permission to start a nurturing program for the children from this orphanage.  Finally in 2007, they received permission and "Open Arms" - a nurturing program for children from birth to 2 years of age was started.  Most recently an orphanage preschool was started by ZKO to serve children at Zhanjiang who could not attend a local school due to their special needs.
I am so thankful to the group of moms who started ZKO and to those who continue to do the
work of this wonderful organization!  And I am grateful to the sponsor of "Andrew", our Dawson, who provides monthly support which allows Dawson and the other young children to receive more
one-on-one attention in a crowded orphanage!  If you think you would like to sponsor an orphan in this way, please leave a comment or email me for further information: dfbjhb@windstream.net

We are on Day 43 of our LOA wait.  Hoping to recieve it sometime this month!
Our fundraising continues - more on that soon!
